Quick add, the command bar and shortcuts
Write down a purchase in seconds, do sums in amount fields, repeat the last one, and get around with the keyboard.
The easiest budget is the one you keep up with. Quick add is built so a purchase takes two taps.
Open Quick add
- the + button (on a phone, the round button above the tab bar, on the right). On Overview, Budget, Transactions and Insights a tap starts a new expense; press and hold it for Expense, Income or Transfer. On screens that add something of their own, a tap opens the menu with that first: Plan a bill and Plan income on Bills, New fund on Funds, New tax on Taxes, then Expense, Income and Transfer;
- N for a new expense, I for new income, on a keyboard;
- long-press the app icon → New expense (installed app, Android);
- the + on the Android home-screen widget;
- the command bar (⌘K or Ctrl+K).
Fill it in
- Amount. Type it the way you’re used to: “12,5” and “12.5” both mean 12.50. If “1,234” could be either a thousand or a small amount in your number format, the field asks “Did you mean €1,234.00?”.
- Category. Chips with your most used categories come first; More… opens a searchable list.
- Save. The button says what will be saved: “Save €12.40 · Groceries”.
Optional: Yesterday or another date, the account, a payee, a note, tags. Save and add another keeps the window open for the next one. After saving, the message has Undo and Edit.
Shortcuts inside Quick add
- Sums in any amount field:
12.50+3.20,3*4.99,100/3. Under the field you see the result (“= €15.70”), counted exactly and rounded to the cent. - Repeat: while the form is empty, a chip like “⟳ Café Luna €3.20” repeats your last one, and up to three of your most frequent payees sit next to it. One tap fills in everything.
- Payee memory: type a payee and the category you used last time (or the one from a rule) is picked, marked “by rule”. You can change it.
- Another currency: type the amount in that currency; the day’s rate is filled in, and you can correct what it came to in your budget currency.
The command bar (⌘K / Ctrl+K)
One field for everything: actions (New expense, New income, Transfer, Plan a bill), going to a screen, and searching categories, bills and transactions.
You can also type a purchase straight into it:
12.50 groceries+2500 salaryyesterday 9.90 lunch20 usd taxi
The first line becomes “Add €12.50 · Groceries”. Enter opens Quick add with it filled in; ⌘Enter (Ctrl+Enter) saves it right away.
