These terms apply when you use Exp Planner: the web app, the Android app and this website. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please also read the Privacy Policy, which explains what happens to your data.
“We” means the operator named above; “you” means the person using Exp Planner.
1. What Exp Planner is
Exp Planner is a tool for planning your personal budget: you enter or import your accounts, plans and transactions, and the app organises them, does the sums and shows you an estimate of what you can spend.
Exp Planner is in early access. It’s free to use for now. Features may be added, changed or removed as it develops. If we introduce paid plans, we’ll tell you in advance, and nothing you’ve been using for free will start costing money without your agreement.
2. Not financial, tax or legal advice
Exp Planner helps you keep track of your own numbers. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and we’re not your financial adviser.
- “Safe to spend”, forecasts, budgets and tax amounts are estimates based on the data you provide and the rules you set. They can be wrong if the data is incomplete or out of date, if a bank file is read differently than you expected, or if exchange rates change.
- The tax calculator applies the rates and dates you enter. Check what you owe with your tax authority or an adviser.
- Decisions about your money are yours. Check important figures against your bank.
3. Your account
- You need to be at least 16 years old to use Exp Planner.
- An account is for one person. Keep access to your email and your Google account safe: anyone who can read your sign-in codes can get into your Exp Planner.
- Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your email address current, so we can reach you about your account.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got into your account.
4. Your data is yours
You own everything you put into Exp Planner. You give us permission to store, process and display it only to run the service for you: to keep it, sync it between your devices, do the calculations, send the notifications you’ve asked for, and keep backups. We don’t use it for anything else. The Privacy Policy has the details.
You can export your data or delete your account at any time in Settings → Data & privacy. We recommend exporting a copy now and then: early-access software can have bugs.
5. Using it fairly
Please don’t:
- use Exp Planner for anything illegal, or to store other people’s data without the right to do so;
- try to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours, or test, probe or break the service’s security (if you’ve found a problem, write to us; we’re grateful);
- overload the service, or use bots or scripts to access it, apart from the Apple Pay Shortcut and the Google Wallet feature as intended;
- share your Shortcut tokens, copy the app, or resell access to it.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules or puts the service or other people at risk. Where we can, we’ll tell you why first.
6. Other companies’ products
Exp Planner works with files from your bank, Google Wallet, Apple Pay and Apple’s Shortcuts, Google sign-in and push notification services. We’re not affiliated with these companies, and they’re responsible for their own products. Their names and trademarks belong to them.
7. Availability
We work to keep Exp Planner available and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors, especially during early access. We may need to pause it for maintenance or updates.
If we ever decide to close Exp Planner, we’ll tell you at least 30 days in advance so you can export your data.
8. Liability
Exp Planner is provided “as is” during early access. To the extent the law allows, we’re not responsible for:
- decisions you make based on the app’s numbers;
- losses caused by wrong, incomplete or outdated data, or by a third party’s service (your bank, Google, Apple, our hosting providers);
- indirect losses, such as lost profits or opportunities.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, and nothing takes away the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
9. Ending
You can stop using Exp Planner and delete your account at any time (Settings → Data & privacy → Delete account). Deleting is permanent. We may end these terms for an account under section 5.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Exp Planner develops. We’ll change the date at the top, and for changes that matter we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they apply. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account; if you keep using Exp Planner, the new terms apply.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of the operator’s country named above, without depriving you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live. Disputes go to the courts that law allows; as a consumer in the EU you can always bring a case in your own country.
