Settings and your account
Where everything in Settings is, from your financial month and categories to rules, notifications, export and deleting your account.
Settings has three groups: Account, Money and App. On a computer they’re in a list on the left; on a phone you see the list first. On a phone, Settings is in the menu behind your avatar.
Account
- Profile: your name and email.
- Sign-in methods: Google and email code. Sign in with Apple is coming.
- Security: where you’re signed in. Sign out signs out this device only; Sign out everywhere signs out all of them. On a phone with the Android app, this is also where App lock lives (see App lock and privacy).
Money
- Preferences: number and date formats, the first day of the week, your time zone, your budget currency, and the day your month starts. Change it and your budgets move to the new dates.
- Budget defaults: the safety buffer, how leftovers roll over by default, the pace markers, and what happens when a new month starts without a plan.
- Categories: categories and their groups, icons and colours, fixed or flexible. Archive a category and move its transactions to another.
- Accounts: card, cash, savings, credit card or credit line; currency; whether it’s on budget; its balance. A card or current account can have an overdraft; a credit card has its limit, statement, minimum payment, interest and how it’s paid. See Accounts and credit cards.
- Rules: sort transactions into categories automatically. “If the description contains REPSOL, the category is Fuel and the tag is car.” More conditions and a payee name adds the direction (in or out), the account, an amount range, and a new payee name. Order matters: the first rule that fits wins. Apply to existing runs a rule over transactions you already have without a category, shows how many and three examples first, and can be undone.
App
- Appearance: Graphite or Bronze, light or dark, density, fewer animations, less transparency. On a phone, Tab bar: choose and reorder the four tabs (the rest go to the avatar menu). These are kept on this device. The text size follows your phone’s setting, from 85 % to 150 %.
- Notifications: per device. See Offline and notifications.
- Apple Pay shortcut: tokens for the iPhone Shortcut that writes down Apple Pay purchases. See iPhone.
- Google Wallet (Android app only): payments from Google Wallet. See Android.
- Data & privacy: export, restore, delete. Below.
- About: the version and the keyboard shortcuts.
Data & privacy
- Everything, as JSON: your profile, accounts, categories, budgets, bills, funds, transactions and rules in one file. Receipts are listed; their files stay in the app.
- Transactions, as CSV: one line per transaction (or per split part), ready for a spreadsheet.
- Restore from a backup: brings back a JSON export. It replaces everything that’s in the account now.
- Delete all data: removes your accounts, categories, budgets, bills, funds, transactions and rules. You stay signed in and start setup again.
- Delete account: deletes your sign-in and everything in it, receipts included, for good. You need to have signed in within the last 10 minutes.
Some settings live in your account and follow you to every device (formats, currency, the start of your month). Others belong to the device (theme, density, notifications, App lock).
